During the reporting period of the present Annual Review (Sep 2020 – Aug 2021),
the humanitarian crisis inflicted upon seafarers in the wake of the COVID-19 pan-
demic was unfortunately far from over. Seafarers are the true ‘heart’ of global
shipping and, especially during these very challenging times, they have demon-
strated that they offer crucial services as key workers.
