Update on the submission of the FuelEU Maritime Monitoring Plans

ATTN:    ALL FULL MEMBERS

               ALL TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Dear Members,

Following our circular (ref: 0729 – F/TC > (EU REGULATION) FuelEU Maritime-Publication of Implementing Acts on Monitoring Plans and Verification Activities), the Commission has now further clarified what the possibility of delayed submissions entails.

  • The Commission will not issue any official communication regarding the tolerance towards late submission of the monitoring plans and has stated that this approach has been outlined in webinars and responses to questions received through the helpdesk. There is no new official deadline or end date for the submission of monitoring plans. The Commission believes it is in the interest of companies to submit these at the earliest opportunity when they are able to do so.

Regarding verifier accreditation, the delegated act for accreditation will be published only in October/November. Due to this delay, the following temporary operational solution will apply:

  • Verifiers holding an existing MRV/ETS accreditation and having applied for FuelEU accreditation will be permitted to verify monitoring plans.
  • The names of these verifiers will appear in the drop-down menu in the FuelEU database, allowing companies submitting monitoring plans to select them as verifiers.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or comments.

Kind regards

Emmanuel Vergetis
