The 48th session of the IMO Facilitation Committee (FAL 48) met from Monday, 08 April to Friday, 12 April 2024.

Among the 20 agenda items, the key topics included:

  1. Attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden
  2. Prevention and suppression of the smuggling of drugs
  3. Development of an overarching IMO digitalization strategy, including the development of joint FAL-LEG-MEPC-MSC guidelines on electronic certificates
  4. Application of single window concept including cybersecurity and development of a model law on cybersecurity
  5. Adoption of the resolution on revised Guidelines for the prevention and suppression of the smuggling of wildlife on ships engaged in international maritime traffic
