EU ETS: Innovation Fund outcome of the 2023 general call

Dear Members,

the money raised via the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) is reinvested into the Innovation Fund You may find below the projects that have been funded by the Innovation Fund outcome of the 2023 general call.

  • Following the 2023 Innovation Fund General call the Commission has selected 85 innovative net-zero projects to receive €4.8 billion in grants from the Innovation Fund.
  • The maritime sector has five projects that will receive funding under the “Net-zero mobility and buildings” theme under this category covering the maritime sector.
  • None of this project are relevant to Bulk carriers
  • 24 projects concern hydrogen6 projects biofuels and bio refineries3 cover CO2 capture, transport and storage

Next steps

The next meeting of the Innovation Fund Expert Group of the European Commission will take place at the end of next week and will discuss the upcoming 2024 Innovation Fund general call and Hydrogen Auction.
