All Members are invited (to register see below) to attend at our London office the presentation that will be delivered by our Associate Member ABS on 28 September 2017 (from 12:00 to 14:00) on the topic of “Best Practices for Operation of Ballast Water Management Systems”.

The presentation will address findings from recent ABS workshops with industry in Greece and the US which included vessel owners representing a range of different vessels including bulk carriers. Focus will be on the best practices which were identified as a result of the workshops and will include the latest position from the USCG regarding vessels operating in US waters. 

The presenter will be Mr. Stamatis Fradelos, Manager Operational Environmental Performance, Global Marine, ABS

Light/buffet lunch will be served, and our gathering will start at 12 noon to conclude by 14:00.

Candidate/potential Full members' (owners, managers and operators of dry bulk vessels) attendance is also welcome subject to space availability.


INTERCARGO supports a Ballast Water Treatment System Regulation Round Table session that will be held on 26 September 2017 in Virginia, USA, and Full Members (and non-Members subject to space availability) are invited to attend.

The event is sponsored by the Connecticut Maritime Association, LISCR, INTERCARGO and INTERTANKO. It is aimed at Shipowners and will discuss BW regulations  and treatments systems for those vessels calling at US ports. Captain Scott Kelly, US Coast Guard Headquarters, Office of Operating & Environmental Standards will deliver a presentation and this will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A session.

The Captain, officers and crew of MV Baltic Sea of INTERCARGO Member PACIFIC BASIN, while calling Silvertown-London beginning of August, had the courtesy of receiving aboard our Association's Secretariat visit. The third 2017 session of lNTERCARGO lunchtime presentations took place at our London office, co-hosted with INTERTANKO, on 12 July 2017 with great success in a full room:

the presentation was delivered by our Associate Member Bureau Veritas  on the topic of “LNG fuelled bulk carriers and tankers” - design, environmental compliance, risks, operations, bunkering and profitability vs HFO & scrubbers. The presenter was Mr. Martial Claudepierre – LNG Business Development Manager in the Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore Division.
